Michigan Trip Day 1

Every year a group of my cousins take a road trip. This years trip took us up to the shores of Michigan.
We left on Sunday morning and while waiting on everyone to arrive at my cousins I passed the time watching the Amish arrive at the neighbors across the street for church.

Our Transportation. We departed at 8:30am and arrived in Mackinaw City aound 5:30pm.

Checked into our hotel.

After dinner we drove over to the Old Mackinac Point Lighthouse.

Mackinac Bridge

The Mackinac Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Straits of Mackinac to connect the upper and lower peninsulas. Total length 26,372 feet.

The Algonquian Native Americans called the straits and the surrounding area "Michilimackinac", meaning "the jumping-off place" or "great road of departure". These Native Americans moved around the straits rather than crossing them. The straits were the end of the trail.

Mackinac Island on the left and Round Island on the right.

He just seemed to be posing for me.

My waterfront home...NOT!!!

After we got back to the hotel my husband and I decided to walk the few blocks back to the bridge and watch the sunset. We were glad we did.  It was just beautiful!

 To be continued.
